This film has been made by young people from a diversity of backgrounds in Leeds to understand, explore and share difference. Part of the ‘In One City’ series. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.createleeds.org/create-locations/doncaster">CREATE</a> is all about assisting people who have slept rough, been homeless, marginalised,  vulnerable or at risk into structured pathways to employment; we do this through a mixture of real work experience, accredited training and all round support to get a job and stay in work.</p>
<p> The Academy programme last for 12 weeks and is a combination of voluntary work in the CREATE Doncaster businesses for around 21 hours a week, plus time in the Academy reviewing and consolidating what has been learnt, looking at what employers want/expect and job search sessions.  Support will be given during the 12 weeks by experienced trainers who will provide help and support to gain qualifications in basic key skills, Customer service and food safety as well as active job search and CV update sessions.</p>

<p>Grants of up to £2,500 are available from the Changing Lives Programme.  The objective of the programme is to empower homeless people to change their own lives through providing funding which can help them achieve their vocational and career objectives.</p>

<p>Grants are available to provide funding towards the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Accredited courses that are linked directly to the applicant’s vocational/career goal.</li>
<li>Tools and equipment for courses that are linked directly to an applicant’s vocational/career goal.</li>
<li>Tools and equipment to use for a job linked directly to an applicant’s vocational/career goal.</li>
<li>Tools and equipment and practical costs to become self-employed.</li>
</ul>
<p>Applications are invited from those who fulfil the following criteria:</p>
<ul>
<li>Over 18.</li>
<li>Have the right to remain and work in the UK indefinitely.</li>
<li>Have been homeless in the last five years.</li>
<li>Are free from substance or alcohol misuse for at least six months.</li>
<li>Are working with a support worker who is willing to support the application.</li>
</ul>
<p>The deadline for submission of applications is 5 May 2011.</p>
